Surfing South Africa one of three nominees as Federation of the Year and the 9 Miles Project nominated in the Recreation Body of the Year category

Surfing South Africa has received a 2017 South African Sport Award nomination as the Federation of the Year and the Strandfontein based 9 Miles Project has  received a nomination in the category Recreation Body of the Year.

Surfing South Africa has received a 2017 South African Sport Award nomination as the Federation of the Year and the Strandfontein based 9 Miles Project has  received a nomination in the category Recreation Body of the Year.

The list of nominees for the 18 categories was announced on Metro FM and on Morning Live on SABC 2 Friday morning by the Mr Nxesi, the honourable Minister of Sport.

Surfing South Africa, Netball South Africa and Lifesaving South Africa are the three nominees for Federation of the year while the 9 Miles Project, I-Touch Community Support Group and Christelike Jeugforum and the Recreation Body of the Year nominees.

The Awards will be presented at a glittering function on Sunday November 12th at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park. 

Surfing South Africa will be represented by the President Johnny Bakker and his wife Hannelie and the founders of 9 Miles Project, Nigel and Sher'Neill Savell.

The annual SA Sports Awards recognise achievements across the sporting spectrum from the People's Choice Sports Star of the Year which is decided by public vote, the Sports Star of the Year, the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman and Sportswoman with a Disability, National Federation of the Year, Recreation Body of the Year, Sport Administrator of the Year, Team of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year,Indigenous Games Team of the Year, Photographer of the Year, Sports Journalist of the Year, School Team of the Year and Developing School Team of the Year.
